On my other tumblr I am following a few feminists bloggers but as of lately a subject has “struck a chord with me” (sort of speak).
The subject of Islam.
Why does this manage to rub me the wrong way, myself as a women’s rights promoter and a Muslim should be viewing this as an opportunity rather than negative.
Now before you get your breast binders in a bunch just hear me out.
Well, for the most part some of the issues that are being “brought to light” are issues that have been ensuing for decades. I.E. The Gaza Strip occupation. When the United Nations unanimously issued Resolution 242 in 1967, (YES THE LATE SIXTIES) and failed to establish peace, what makes bunch of “natural” hairy lesbians believe they can “bring awareness and solve world issues” behind a computer screen while having their “vegan dinners”.
Or the issue of the French ban of the hijab.
I came across an image of a woman with a hijab and the Eiffel Tower in the background with texts paraphrased as ballin’ so hard * The leader of France * wanna fine me.
Posted throughout many feminist tumblrs.
I found this to be VERY CONTRADICTORY TO FEMINISM due to the fact that “ According to numerous feminist groups, as well as some human rights advocacy groups, wearing the scarf symbolizes a woman’s submission to men. It is believed that permitting the veil in schools risks opening the door to other practices that exist in the Muslim world, and which pose even more of a handicap for women”.
To me, a regular-ole-feminist-wannabe advocating the hijab as an attire is actually putting them backwards and not pulling them forwards.
Which in turn is more proof, in my opinion, that most feminists really don’t know what they are advocating and talk just to come off as “more active and ethical than thou”.
Promoting women’s rights then to turn around and support a DEGRADING DRESS ATTIRE BROUGHT UPON BY A CHAUVINISTIC POINT OF VIEW IS COUNTER-PRODUCTIVE, MY DEAR FEMINIST.
All the more reason for MOST feminist bloggers to stay out of religions.
A lot of these bloggers lack passion and courage. Passion to pick a stand point on any issue. The courage to make a decision and then the courage to act upon that decision.
I am annoyed with the bloggers that think that just by blawging aboot it then the issue will “catch fire and take off”.
Not when, just like KONY, these bloggers don’t take action and they do nothing but pout and throw little vegan dinners and “talk” as opposed to “DO”.
Politics are continuously in flux, why not choose a topic that is relevant to time?
Because in the long run when bloggers blog to “bring awareness” WHERE ARE YOU FUCKERS NOW.
Where are the KONY fuckers?
Or the Columbine fuckers?
Or the 1993 World Trade Center fuckers?
Or the 2001 World Trade Center fuckers?
Or the Darfur fuckers?
Or the Tibet fuckers?
Or the PETA fuckers?
Or the world hunger fuckers?
ET CETERA!
The most offending subject about the focus on Islam isn’t the fact that, just like every other religion, the controversies are being brought to the surface but the fact that my religion, my guiding principles are a commodity.
The fact that it will all be forgotten in a week and left for a lost cause because a few thousand feminists thought it was “cool” to make old issues be an internet fad.
I do not accept this as “alright” or a demonstration of “good nature”. I perceive it as a few wannabe activists attempting to look cool to their piers at their little vegan dinners in their vegan shoes after they just got done holding up pieces of cardboard “protesting” saying “this is bad cuz lyke… my blawg said so lol” .
“POLICE BRUTALITY IZ BAD CUZ LYKE… uh lol … forget about it it’ll still be there in a week . guiz cum back 4 a vegan dinner n’ sum folk bandz”
It breaks my heart to know that my religion is going to fall into this category.
Thanks guys, you really did the world a favour, sarcastically speaking.
